Dr. Cheryl Plouffe provides psychological services to children, adolescents, and adults. She offers individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing a range of difficulties such as

Dr. Plouffe also provides psycho-educational assessments to children, adolescents, and adults in order to evaluate learning challenges and disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), developmental disorders (including ASD), as well as gifted identification.

Dr. Plouffe provides services in a warm, and compassionate environment in which to address her clients’ needs.

Therapeutic Approaches

Dr. Plouffe’s therapeutic orientation may best be described as integrative, with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioural (CBT). Techniques from other orientations are incorporated depending on the nature of the presenting difficulties and may include mindfulness, collaborative problem solving, and solutions-focused therapy.

Professional Biography

Dr. Plouffe received her B.Sc. (Honours) with Specialization in Psychology from the University of Ottawa, her Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from McGill University in Montreal , and her Ph.D. in School/Applied Child Psychology from McGill University.

Dr. Plouffe has trained and worked in the McGill Psychoeducational and Counselling Clinic, and is currently employed at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as a Psychologist. She has worked at the OCDSB since September 2011.

Dr. Plouffe is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. In support of the profession, Dr. Plouffe maintains memberships in international, national, provincial, and local psychological associations. She also regularly attends and presents at conferences, workshops, and professional meetings in order to learn and share knowledge about current developments in the field. Dr. Plouffe has over 25 scientific publications and conference presentations in the areas of inquiry-based teaching and learning and giftedness.
